Birdfish Prints
Hello everyone! I’m an Aspen-based printmaker focused specifically on linocut block printing techniques. I first learned the art while studying for my graphic design degree at the University of Notre Dame, falling in love with the process of this ancient art.
My work is inspired by place and memory, drawing from many of the places I’ve gotten to call home – including Nashville, New York, to now Aspen. Each piece is hand carved, inked, and pulled by hand, making every print slightly unique. I believe with prints, as compared to photographs, the slight abstractness allows people to paint their own memory on top of the art and remember the place with their own perspective. Getting to hear the stories of why someone connected with the various works I’ve created is my favorite thing about getting to share it.
Outside of my own work, I also have the pleasure of teaching our local community at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. When I’m not carving, I can be found doing all the Colorado things, traveling to new nooks of the world, and trying to become a respectable skier.
