Pam Shafer and Laurena Davis, avid readers, fast friends, and co-owners of Bookish Purses, which upcycles vintage books into fabulous purses, shelves, and portfolios. Bookish Purses started in 2018 with a one-of-a-kind birthday gift. Pam designed a purse from Laurena's favorite book. No surprise, Laurena loved it! A seed was planted that we could make a business from giving vintage books fashionable new lives.

 

The upcycling process is labor-intensive, but we value the time spent matching materials to the character of the book in order to create a truly unique purse. We have fun making Bookish Purses, and we hope you’ll have fun gifting or owning one.

 

Some of our customers carry their Bookish Purses every day, while others use them to make a literary splash at special events. Others hang them in their homes and offices as art pieces or for stylish storage.
