Handcrafted by Little Hands
Some know the story… “Let’s go son.” Zechariah would go to Summer’s Mouldings with Dad on occasional Fridays. He was age 7 when that started. Little boys absorb like sponges.
One weekend we were shut out of the garage while Z prepared a surprise for us. He was age 9 and was fairly handy with hand tools, belt and orbital sanders. Sunday night he revealed his decent, laminated walnut cutting board. This sparked much astonishment and conversation. As a result, we as a family decided to ask if Zechariah could sell cutting boards at the Downtown Glenwood Springs Market. The wonderful Market Committee folks gave Z a table for $10/night.
Much more discussion ensued because we had never participated in farmers markets or craft shows of any sort. Dad was a wonderful guide and encourager through all of this process and planning! Mom offered to help Zechariah in making the boards and in her heart, she thought he might sell 5 or 7 boards that summer. Well, in 8 Tuesday nights he sold 99 boards and did $2,000 in sales!! And by the end of the summer, folks were asking for a website or business card. Henceforth came the name, Hand Crafted by Little Hands!
