Ironwood Glassworks
I've been a glass flameworker since 1996 and make beads, figures, bottles, marbles, jewelry, and kaleidoscopes. For a long long time I sold weekly at local markets, spending many years at the Chattanooga Market in Tennessee, the Aspen Saturday Market and the Glenwood Springs Tuesday Market in Colorado. I have also participated in a number of juried craft shows including the Carbondale Mountain Fair in Colorado, the Lake Eden Arts Festival in North Carolina, The 4 Bridges Art Festival and Ketner's Mill Craft Fair in Tennessee, the Grand Bazaar in New York City, and more.
Both of my mother’s grandfathers were glass artists - I believe I have glasswork in my blood and my cellular memory holds the love for hot glass. There is an inherent beauty in glass - its infinite combinations of color, texture, and luminescence grant it endless possibilities. It is a liquid: fluid, though seemingly solid. It changes with time, so slowly our eyes cannot see it happening - unless we manipulate it with heat. I am deeply moved by the sensation of watching hot glass follow gravity’s lead, pulling together design and technique toward original works of art.
