Zen and Bones
Sunny Kay was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She discovered a love of art as a child and took as many art classes as she could throughout her middle and high school years. She pursued a degree at the University of Lousiana-Lafayette in Art Education and has been teaching high school art in the Roaring Fork Valley for 23 years.
Sunny creates one-of-a-kind pieces that mix the natural elements of life and death with the beauty that is art, expression, and living life to the fullest. The sparkle doesn’t hide the bone—it honors it, creating a bridge between the wild and the imagined. Every piece is named after a song, bringing together art, music, and the earth in a way that feels both personal and universal to anyone who views her art and feels a personal connection with it.
The name Zen & Bones came from the meditative act of creating each piece, and the sense of calm she feels when she’s doing it.
